TD Bank Group Invests $416,040 in Ottawa Public Library Programs Supporting Social Connection and Inclusion

OTTAWA — Ottawa Public Library (OPL) is pleased to announce a $416,040 gift from TD Bank Group (TD) in support of the Unlock Potential Campaign for the new Central Branch at Ādisōke.

This investment will help reduce social isolation and strengthen community connection by supporting inclusive programs, resources, and services at OPL, and by enhancing navigation of community supports. Specifically, funding will be used to support groups more likely to experience social isolation, including older adults, immigrants, youth, low-income populations, people with disabilities, and people identifying as 2SLGBTQIA+.

As one of the most accessible and welcoming public spaces in the city, OPL plays an important role in helping Ottawans build connections, access resources, and feel a sense of belonging in their community.

“Public libraries are more than places to borrow books: they are spaces that inspire learning, spark curiosity, and connect people,” said Sonia Bebbington, CEO and Chief Librarian of OPL. “We are grateful to TD for this generous contribution, which will help OPL continue to create welcoming opportunities for people across our community to build meaningful connections and access important resources.”

This support will help ensure library services continue to meet the needs of people facing barriers to participation.
